Fort Morgan Off the beaten path and down a winding stretch of road is the community of Fort Morgan. A peninsula, it is surrounded by bodies of water including the Bon Secour Bay, Little Lagoon and the Gulf of Mexico. Along the 20 miles stretch of road you’ll find relaxation at every turn with golf courses, nature walks and a pace that encourages biking and walking. Because of its low commercial development, the area offers picturesque and uncrowded waterfront settings and quiet natural surroundings. In fact, much of the Fort Morgan Peninsula is in the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge, which attracts bird lovers from across the country. At the end of the road at the mouth of the Mobile Bay is Fort Morgan which saw action during four wars and is a draw for history buffs. It is most famous for its role in the Battle of Mobile Bay during the Civil War, but was occupied by the military as recently as 1946.
