Boating & Fishing in Paradise Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are home to some of the best boating and fishing on the gulf coast! Whether you are looking for a relaxing boat ride or an exhilarating fight with the fish of your dreams, the Alabama Gulf Coast can accommodate. Just south of Alabama's shoreline is one of the richest fisheries in the world. Alabama's artificial reef program has placed thousands of artificial reefs just a few miles off of the coast. These reefs are home to Red Snapper, Vermillion Snapper, White Snapper, Lane Snapper, Trigger Fish, Amberjack and many different species of grouper. During certain times of the year Wahoo and King Mackerel can also be found feeding near these reefs as well. Yellow Fin Tuna, Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo, Swordfish, Sailfish, White Marlin and the highly prized Blue Marlin can be caught seasonally a little bit farther offshore. Trolling is the preferred method but live-bait fishing works as well.
The inshore fishing in the Orange Beach and Gulf Shores area changes with the seasons. In the spring, the Sheepshead, Pompano and slot Red Fish begin to bite in the backwaters while the Cobia migrate down the beaches. Once the hot summer days begin, the Speckled Trout fishing picks up (especially at night) and the Red Fish and Flounder are hit or miss. Once fall arrives, the Bull Red Fish begin migrating closer to shore and the flounder fishing picks up drastically. The Speckled Trout bite improves in the fall as well. The backwaters of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores also offer plenty of entertainment and dining. Pirates Cove, Tacky Jacks, LuLu's, Geno's Fresh Catch Grill and Wolf Bay Lodge are just a few restaurants and bars that are accessible by boat. If you are looking for a relaxed party atmosphere with sandy beaches, boat and bikinis, Robinson Island is the place to be! If the sun is out, the good times are on.
